eBay suffers cyberattack and the company recommends changing all passwords

A “cyberattack” that has exposed a database that contained “encrypted passwords and other non-financial information” including the name, email address and physical address, according to the company. They ensure that there is no evidence that this data has been used and that the card data is stored on other sites and with other encryption.

Ebay also gives more details on how this attack occurred: apparently, the attackers would have obtained the access data of several company employees and with them they would have accessed the corporate network. From there, they don’t seem to have had much of a problem accessing the database we discussed earlier. The security breach took place between the end of February and the beginning of March, something quite disheartening: we are talking about almost more than two months from when it occurred until users are finally notified.
