Cortana will not talk to you if you are under 13 years old

If you’re a minor, Windows Phone 8.1’s virtual assistant just won’t help you.

Cortana’s fame has been increasing because of how good she is in terms of answers when asking for help, although unfortunately for now she only understands the English language.

However, Cortana obeys the Children’s Internet Privacy Protection Act of the United States, known as COPPA, and said law states that no one under the age of 13 can share information over the Internet without parental permission.

Therefore, if you are under 13 years old and have a Microsoft account assigned to a smartphone with Windows Phone 8.1, Cortana will verify your age using your date of birth and with her voice she will say “I’m sorry, you need to be a little older so that I can help you ».
