Renault has just introduced the Kwid, a concept car with a curious addition: an autonomous drone for exploration tasks.
The drone is housed in a cabin on the roof from where it takes off at the command of the driver. The flying vehicle, dubbed the Flying Companion, has two flight modes: automatic and manual. In the latter, it is the driver himself (we assume that with the car stopped), or the co-pilot who controls the drone through a tablet integrated into the dash. An electrical connector in the landing compartment itself is responsible for recharging the device’s batteries.
