This, whose installation is expected to be completed in 2016, will be 5,600 kilometers long and will link Fortaleza (Brazil) with Lisbon (Portugal).
The installation will be carried out by Telebras, a Brazilian operator owned by the state, and Islalink, a Spanish company (although it was bought in November by a Nordic investment fund) that specializes in laying this type of cables. The project, which has been in development for months but has now received the final gun, will cost about 175 million euros.
