The German company BMW announced on January 30 that it had fixed a bug in the ConnectedDrive software that affected more than 2.2 million cars of the Rolls-Royce, Mini and the aforementioned brands. The error meant that hackers could violate the central locking of the vehicles, which allowed them to be stolen without violating them.

BMW said the vulnerability appeared when data was transmitted to the car’s terminal, but did not affect primary functions and components, such as driving or the braking system.
