The Canadian mobile phone manufacturer BlackBerry announced on Friday the sale of most of its properties in Canada as part of its plan to improve its financial situation after several years of poor results.
BlackBerry, based in the Canadian town of Waterloo, near Toronto, said in a statement that it will sell more than 279,075 square meters of buildings and land while renting part of the premises from which it is going to divest.
BlackBerry has laid off thousands of employees in the last three years, about 40% of its workforce, in an attempt to cut costs and stay afloat.
