Twitter will begin to apply today the measures announced a month ago to combat abusive and violent content in the community, measures that many of its users have demanded for years but that until now the platform had been unable to specify.
The company assures that it will be harsh with users who post content that incites hatred or that contains threats to the physical integrity of people. Twitter may require specific tweets to be removed before re-posting new messages, temporarily suspend some accounts, or even permanently ban repeat offenders.
“We are going to be very aggressive with this policy and we may be wrong, so we are also putting in place a robust appeals system. During the next few weeks we will also fine-tune these rules and inform the community about the process, “the company said.
