According to data from Strategy Analytics, which analyzes mobile shipments that reach stores, Android smartphones would have once again marked another milestone. That of exceeding 1,000 million shipments in a single year (1,042 million shipments). In other words, only in 2014 a mobile phone with this operating system was brought to market… for every seven inhabitants of the planet. A figure that leaves no doubt about the great dominator of this segment, and which is reinforced with a market share of 81% (four out of every five smartphones). In addition, mobiles with this system have grown in a very remarkable way from the 780 million terminals that reached the stores in 2013.
The second player in contention in the smartphone market is Apple with its iPhone. The apple company has closed a good year 2014, thanks to the launch of its new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus that have found a great reception among its users. And it is that this firm has closed 2014 with total shipments of 192 million iPhones, an amount that is well above the 153 million terminals sent in 2013.
