American airline American Airlines suspended its flights to Venezuela amid the growing humanitarian and security crisis. The pilots union had recommended its members not to travel to that country.
“American has temporarily suspended our operations in Caracas and Maracaibo,” the airline said in a statement. “The safety and security of our team members and customers always comes first and American will not operate in countries that we do not consider safe.”
American Airlines had so far two flights a week to Caracas and one to Maracaibo, all from Miami.
The pilots union of the airline American Airlines had previously recommended its members not to travel to Venezuela after the decision of the US government to withdraw all its diplomatic personnel from the country due to political uncertainty and criminality.
