The user receives SMS similar to these: «I am writing to you by wasap. Tell me if you get my messages. Did you add me the other day? » or “I am writing to you through wasap but my messages are not reaching you.”
In case of replying to the message, the user will unconsciously give his phone number and, subsequently, cybercriminals will add him to a service for which they will charge him for each message received, a common practice in this type of fraud. It is estimated that this service charges for receiving messages with amounts ranging from 1.20 euros to 7 euros.
