It was already known how easy it could be to contaminate a storage unit that is connected through USB ports to computers. But now they have found that any USB device, be it a mouse or keyboard, can be used by hackers to access personal computers with attacks that can evade all sorts of known security protections.
This is what Karsten Nohl, a researcher at SR Labs, a Berlin security firm, has revealed. Nohl pointed out that hackers can load malicious software into USB firmware through small chips that come in USB devices. The worst thing about this is that it is not detected because at that level there are no protective shields.
