Airlines do not frequently update their networks, making it difficult for vulnerabilities to be fixed in a short period of time. This means that the security of passenger devices connecting to that network could be compromised. The problem is that it is not easy for companies to quickly update hardware and software in the short moments when the plane is stopped, between flights.
Most worrying is the number of users that could compromise these networks. If a car or medical device can be hacked, it will also be possible to compromise an airline’s WiFi network.
