“I can confirm that it has crashed,” a source from the African company told Reuters. The flight was operated by the Spanish airline Swiftair, which loaned the seven crew members. The plane, which took off from Burkina Faso, never reached its destination, Algiers.
The official has declined to give details about the whereabouts of the aircraft or the cause of the accident, the agency said.
The most likely cause of the tragedy is the bad weather prevailing in the northern region of Mali, sources from the Algerian company told Efe. According to this thesis, “it is most likely an accident” due to the strong storms that hit the Sahel region last night.
