There are already many smartphones on the market prepared to withstand use in risky professions or in outdoor sports, but a renowned tool manufacturer has designed a particular device primarily intended for construction workers.
The DeWALT Phone MD501 is an ultra-rugged smartphone, capable of withstanding two-meter drops to pavement. It resists extreme temperatures from 60 degrees to 20 degrees below zero, pressure variations, acid splashes as well as vibrations. It is IP68 certified, so it can remain submerged in water for two hours at a depth of two meters.
It is also rough to the touch so it does not slip. It has a 5-inch screen, very bright, for use outdoors and with gloves. Internally it comes with a 1.3GHz quad-core Mediatech 64-bit processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage capacity. It has 13 and 5MP cameras, and includes DualSIM, 4G connection, GPS, radio, NFC and Bluetooth 4.0. Its 3,950mAh battery offers the possibility of talking for up to 8 hours without recharging but also allows wireless recharging with Qi technology. It is already on sale in the United Kingdom, and will soon be available in other countries. Its price is around 500 euros.
