Mark Burnett is a computer security researcher with a curious “hobby”: collecting leaked passwords online to analyze user habits on the Internet. Now, in a risky move, Burnett has released 10 million passwords and usernames – and explained to the FBI why he shouldn’t be arrested.

Burnett is known, among other things, for producing reports each year detailing the worst passwords chosen by users. Yes, those of “123456”, “password” and the like. Burnett’s way of getting these passwords is by diving into forums for leaks and hacks, collecting them like treasure. In this way, it has obtained up to 10 million passwords and usernames. And just posted them here. A risky move that can cost you being hunted by the FBI.
