TransAsia flight 235 crashed shortly after taking off from Taipei airport, killing 13 of the 58 passengers and crew on board. At the moment the causes of the accident are unknown, but according to the airline, TransAsia, it is one of the newest aircraft in its fleet and it had recently undergone technical and safety inspections as well as the pertinent mechanical and maintenance checks. .
The plane, which is a French-made ATR 72 twin-engine turboprop with two pilots, lost contact with the controllers at Taipei Songshan Airport around 10.55 (Taipei local time) and plunged into the Keelung River, brushing against a wing. the National Highway No. 1 of Taiwan that at that time was in circulation. The Taiwan Defense Ministry sent 165 people and several boats to the scene of the accident along with the firefighting team to continue the search.
